Although he only joined the club in January from Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, Okello quickly established himself as one of Yanga’s most influential players.

The attacking midfielder registered 14 league goals and 11 assists in just 24 appearances, finishing as the league’s third-highest scorer despite featuring only in the second half of the campaign.

Singida Black Stars striker Mossi Nduwumwe finished top scorer with 17 goals, while Azam FC midfielder Feisal Salum came second with 15.

Okello’s standout moments included his first hat-trick for Yanga against Tanzania Prisons, a performance that further strengthened the club’s dominance in the title race.

The former KCCA FC star joined Yanga on a reported three-year deal worth about Shs1.08 billion (approximately $300,000) after leaving Vipers midway through the season.

Reacting to the title triumph, Okello expressed gratitude to the club and supporters for their support since his arrival.

“All glory to the Highest. Joining Young Africans SC in January and lifting the title yesterday feels surreal. Huge thanks to our president, technical staff, teammates and our amazing fans for welcoming me into this great family. First of many. YANGA BINGWA.”

Remarkably, Okello ends the 2025/26 season with two league winners’ medals, having also contributed to Vipers’ title-winning campaign in the Uganda Premier League before his January transfer.

Yanga and Simba SC will represent Tanzania in next season’s CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.
